The latest Silvacine Production:

Kai Elias Silva
Born 4:28am January 23, 2009
As one might imagine, the Silva studio is busy around the clock, changing dirty diapers, 2-hour feedings and lots of burping (some of it from Kai). In between all this mom and dad, Shannon and Andre, find time to read long passages from War and Peace . . . not really.
Since Kai is only a couple of weeks old at the point of this nooz update, major accomplishments include holding his neck up and drinking 70-80ml of milk. We're hoping that as time goes on, first words will include "film," and "Kodachrome" or "Bolex." - not that we're pushing Kai to be a filmmaker or anything. If he wants to be a doctor or lawyer or something, we'll reach out to understand and accept him despite this wayward path.
Things have been lively for the larger humans within the realm of film. Ichthyopolis the latest Silvacine film to venture out into the festival circuit premiered at Dallas Video Festival, last fall, shortly thereafter followed by an east-coast premier at Cucalorus Film Festival. This year, "Ichthyopolis," plays at FLEX (Florida Experimental) film/video festival, Wisconsin Film Festival, New Genre Festival and has just won a Grand Jury Prize for Animation at Black Maria Film Festival . . . so check it out at a theater near you.
Production continues on Shannon's experimental documentary, MKA Buy Buy Love, Buy Buy Happiness, a feature-length documentary which looks at marketing to tween girls. Check out the ongoing blog that chronicles research on the film.
A shorter experimental documentary that explores the world of waxing (here, there and a little down there *blush*), To Bare or to Bush is in post production and plans to make a sprint for the festival circuit quite soon.
